A quick guide to Morzine (winter & summer)
We love Morzine so much we can’t stop talking about the place, plus there’s so much to say! For those who don’t know, Morzine, nestled in the Portes du Soleil area of the Savoy Alps, is a traditional French alpine village whose friendly locals (Morzinois) have been welcoming visitors, winter and summer, for over a century. And this charming village has served Simply Morzine well for nearly a quarter of that time! Only 75km from Geneva Airport (about an hour and 15 minutes in our minibuses), Morzine is easy to reach from the UK and Ireland. Whether you’re planning a short ski break, a full week or perhaps a longer stay in one of our apartments, Morzine works well. The Morzinois have invested in world class winter and summer facilities to make our town a great choice for experiencing all that an alpine holiday in France can offer, whatever the season. With its pretty chalets, independent local shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, Morzine is packed full of authentic Savoyarde atmosphere and offers plenty of things to do in both the winter and summer seasons – making it an extremely popular alpine holiday destination.
Winter ski holidays in Morzine
When most people think Morzine they probably think skiing or snowboarding. That’s because Morzine is a leading resort for just this. During the ski season, Simply Morzine guests can explore the full range of the massive Portes de Soleil ski and snowboard area across France and Switzerland, thanks to excellent links to Avoriaz and beyond via Super Morzine or Les Prodains. For those who rather stay closer to Morzine, you’ll find a great variety of treelined pistes in the popular, scenic Morzine-Les Gets ski area, normally accessed by the Pleney Gondola. Excellent, reliable snow conditions coupled with state of the art snowmaking facilities ensure skiers and snowboarders can enjoy the extensive and varied pistes throughout the whole ski season, from early December until late April. Morzine-Avoriaz boasts a tremendous snow record and is the ideal ski holiday destination.

Summer or winter, you’ll find a lively and varied programme of events to keep you entertained during your holiday in Morzine. The ski season begins with the Rock on Snowboard Tour in Avoriaz. Christmas and the New Year in the Alps are always special, and Morzine puts on Christmas concerts, festive markets and live music, and of course spectacular fireworks to welcome in the New Year. The famous Rock The Pistes Music Festival takes place throughout the Portes de Soleil in March. Snowboxx is a decent electronic music festival also staged in Avoriaz in the spring. In Morzine, the Basscamp DJs at the bottom of the Pleney never fail to kick of the après ski. Over the summer, the Morzine events programme offers professional cycling races (including the Etape du Tour and Tour de France on some years), jazz, the Mont Blanc Motor Rally, Spartan Race Morzine and, on alternate years, the infamous Morzine Days, when the Harley Davison owners club descend on Morzine. Not to be missed! Morzine is also well known for laying on plenty of creative and magical events for children in the summer months.
