Coronavirus – Simply Morzine live on BBC News
Following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in March, we were able to reopen for the summer season – thanks to a ‘travel-corridor’ between the UK and France.
However, on Saturday August 15th, holiday makers travelling back to the UK were forced to quarantine for 14-days upon their return home.
This followed the UK government’s short-notice announcement late in the evening on Thursday 13th August – only 30 hours before the change.
Simply Morzine were fully booked with guests at the time and news of the Foreign Office now warning against all but essential travel to France came as a shock to everyone.
Thankfully, we were quickly able to ensure that guests who wanted to return home before the restrictions came in did so.
For those due to arrive on Saturday 15th August, we deviated from our standard T&Cs by allowing guests the opportunity to defer their holidays until summer 2021.
Our assistance and support to guests were commended – and we were pleased to be contacted by the BBC to speak live to the News Channel.
